L'ultima traccia dell'album "Pop, Jazz and Love" è nientemeno che reggae, si chiama "I wanna only be myself".

Caputo sceglie di accompagnarsi non con la chitarra ma con l'ukulele, rendendo l'atmosfera del brano ancora più festosa e simpatica.

Il messaggio è chiaro, nella vita meglio essere se stessi.

Godiamoci allora quest'ultima canzone, sperando che il nostro Sergio ci regali presto nuovi pezzi e nuove emozioni.

Siamo giunti alla fine anche di questo viaggio "caputiano" con il quale ho analizzato tutta la sua opera, spero che chi apprezzava Caputo lo apprezzi ora sempre di più e per chi non lo conosceva spero sia stata invece una buona occasione per addentrarsi nelle magiche atmosfere pop-jazz di questo straordinario artista.

Vado particolarmente fiero della sezione accordi, soprattutto perché in rete si trovavano le solite 10-15 canzoni di Sergio e nulla più, ora invece gli appassionati di Caputo potranno avere a disposizione gli accordi di tutta la sua discografia, accordi che ho tirato giù ad orecchio, di conseguenza, se doveste trovare errori (spero di no!) fatemelo sapere così potrò correggerli.

Come si capisce facilmente dal titolo, "Bachata que luna" strizza l'occhio alla musica "latina".

Caputo ha mostrato in quasi tutti i suoi album l'amore per questo tipo di ritmi, basti pensare a canzoni come "Il garibaldi innamorato" e "Flamingo".

Altro elemento che ritroviamo spesso nelle sue canzoni è la fusione di linguaggi diversi, in questo caso l'idioma inglese con quello spagnolo.

La canzone è carina ma continuo a preferire il caputo più "jazz".

Questa canzone è molto in stile Carlos Santana, soprattutto per come è impiegata la chitarra ed è sicuramente più vicina al lato "pop" rispetto a quello jazz.

Sergio ci parla ancora del suo amore, che ama follemente, vista come un angelo caduto dal cielo.

"Che bello essere arrivati fin qui", è questo il messaggio che lancia Sergio Caputo con "The way we were the way we are", troppo spesso infatti si vive la vita in maniera frenetica, fermandosi poco a riflettere su come eravamo e su come siamo diventati, nel bene e nel male.

Per atmosfera questa canzone si avvicina alle composizioni strumentali di "That kind of thing".

A dispetto del titolo "Welcome to my loneliness" è una traccia allegra e solare.

Mi sarebbe piaciuto sentirla in versione "live", infatti spesso il nostro Sergio riesce a rendere le canzoni dal vivo più intriganti rispetto alle versioni studio.

A bazzicare il lungo mare

Ed ecco il nostro Sergio tornare finalmente a "bazzicare" nuova musica, in quella che sarà l'unica traccia italiana dell'album.

Il pezzo ha una melodia solare e vacanziera.

Caputo ha raccontato che l'idea della canzone gli è venuta di notte, in macchina, di ritorno da un concerto tenuto sul lungomare di Pescara.

Sergio ha inoltre detto di muoversi sempre con il suo laptop, nel quale ha installato dei software per registrare, in modo che quando viene l'ispirazione è pronto a fissare le sue idee immediatamente sul computer, cosa che in passato non era possibile e che lo costringeva di conseguenza ad usare stratagemmi insoliti, tipo andare in una cabina telefonica, chiamarsi a casa e registrare il motivetto che gli era saltato in mente, sulla segreteria telefonica!

Dopo la parentesi "latina" Sergio torna al "pop jazz" e lo fa con "Like", traccia allegra e sincopata, nella quale spicca ancora una volta il sax di Zagonari.

A supporto della chitarra di Sergio anche le tastiere suonate da Paolo Vianello, che accompagna ultimamente Caputo anche nei tour in giro per l'Italia.

Il basso viene suonato invece proprio da Sergio, sia in questa che nel resto delle tracce dell'album, la batteria invece è opera di Alessandro Marzi.

Se le prime due tracce erano dichiarazioni di amore velate verso la sua compagna Cristina Zatti, la terza lo è in maniera diretta ed esplicita, Caputo intitola il pezzo proprio "Cristina" e canta il suo amore per lei in una commistione di inglese e spagnolo, ecco allora che Cristina viene vista come "lucky star de mi vida" e "Flower de mi alma latina".

In un disco interamente in inglese, ad eccezione di un pezzo, Caputo non rinuncia alla sua passione per il mondo latino e ci presenta questo pezzo che oltra a contenere parole in spagnolo ha una struttura armonica molto "bossa".

Traccia intrigante questa "Straight for my heart", ritmo sincopato, con una chitarra elettrica graffiante e la voce di Caputo che sembra arrivare da un altro mondo.

A metà pezzo poi si scatenano i sax, mentre la chitarra di Sergio ci regala un bell'assolo.
