Everybody looks so beautiful in Paris

Siamo nel 2015 e finalmente il sogno di tutti i "caputiani doc" si è avverato, il nostro Sergio ci regala infatti un nuovo album di composizioni originali, che mancava dal 1996, anno di pubblicazione di "I love jazz", senza considerare ovviamente lo strumentale "That kind of thing" del 2003.

L'album in questione si chiama "Pop, jazz and love" e ad eccezione di un pezzo è interamente in inglese.

Andiamo ad analizzare la prima traccia, si chiama "Everybody looks so beautiful in Paris" e si apre con un corposto "walking bass" suonato da Patrizio Sacco, giovane bassista che ha accompagnato Sergio diverse volte dal vivo soprattutto nelle sue esizioni passata al The Place di Roma, poi subentra la pianola di Vianello ed infine la chitarra di Sergio che canta il suo amore per la sua attuale compagna e per la città di Parigi, chiedendosi come mai tutti sembrano così belli in questa città.

La struttura e l'armonia della canzone sono fortemente jazz ed è una caratteristica che accompagnerà molte canzoni di questo album.

L'angolo live:

"Everybody looks so beautiful in Paris" è tra le canzoni che Sergio decide di portare nella scaletta dei concerti che promuovono l'album, sentiamoci allora questo audio "bootleg" proveniente dal concerto tenuto all'Auditorium Parco della musica di Roma il 19 marzo del 2015:

Sergio ci spiega il perché ha scelto di comporre le nuove canzoni in inglese: "I testi sono usciti in inglese perché l’inglese è la mia seconda lingua e questo è uno dei motivi per cui la musica mi viene fuori più facilmente e spontaneamente in inglese che in italiano".

L'intento, conclude Caputo, è quello di rivolgersi ad un pubblico internazionale.

Poi Sergio ci spiega il perché ha chiamato il nuovo album "Pop, jazz and love": "Pop e jazz perché da sempre, il mio lavoro tende a far dialogare questi due generi musicali, «poppizzando il jazz e jazzando il pop» ", e "love" perché l’amore è il tema principale delle mie canzoni e aveva bisogno di essere decantato in modo diverso rispetto agli album precedenti: non più solo storie “strappa-budella”, ma amori felici.
